ARCOÍRIS

Arcoíris is an audiovisual piece that, through a speculative language, presents the Rainbow Trout and its history as an invasive species in Colombia, rewriting—through fiction and speculation—our relations with the territory of Lake Tota (the country’s largest freshwater reserve) and with the human species.

In a dialogue between the trout that inhabit the lake and a group of scientists who manage to communicate via the Artificial Lateral Line for Interspecies Communication, different perspectives of the trout are voiced in the face of the current persecution unleashed against their population. The video is composed of a series of chimeric images, data-laden scientific experiments, natural landscapes, and interspecies discourses that point to and suggest alternative ways of thinking in a new geological era.

It is an interspecies dialogue that seeks to deconstruct anthropocentric positions while simultaneously imagining possible futures that suggest other kinds of behavior with respect to our relationships with natural ecosystems.
